President & Chief Operating Officer

Julian E. (Jay) Whitehurst is the chief operating officer and president of the company.  He is responsible for the company's acquisitions, development and dispositions, as well as other operational functions in the company, and is a member of the real estate investment committee.  Previously, Mr. Whitehurst served as the company's general counsel.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Whitehurst was a partner at Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A., an Orlando based law firm. He is a graduate of The Ohio University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1979, Phi Beta Kappa) and Duke University School of Law (J.D., 1982), where he was the Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Contemporary Problems (1982). Mr. Whitehurst is av-rated and is Board Certified as a Specialist in Real Estate Law by The Florida Bar.

Mr. Whitehurst is currently a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).
